Challenging weather conditions at last WorldSSP300 race weekend before summer break in Most

Already for the third weekend in a row, FÜSPORT - RT Motorsports by SKM - Kawasaki was in action last weekend. This time at the special Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic for the last WorldSSP300 races before the long summer break. A special race weekend for local hero Petr Svoboda, which started even more special as he was the fastest rider on Friday.
Race 1 did start under dry conditions, but rain started to fall, allowing riders to change tyres in the pits. Petr, however, decided to stay out. A crash caused him to initially fall back to P15, but Petr stayed motivated on slicks and finished in P6. His rivals in the championship had a much harder time, allowing Petr to make up a lot of points. Troy Alberto had a good start and moved up into the top-10. He did decide to come in to change tyres and eventually finished Race 1 in 19th.
The second race on Sunday afternoon was first postponed and then shortened due to heavy rain. And conditions were still poor at the final start. Fortunately, Petr did what he had to do: finish the race and score points. He eventually finished eighth and is now third in the World Championship standings with just four points behind the leader. Teammate Troy had a second race to quickly forget and in which he did not cross the finish line due electronic problems.
Team manager Rob Vennegoor: 'How much can happen in one weekend! Because of the changing weather conditions, we knew before that it was going to be a special weekend and it turned out to be true. Petr did a fantastic job because there's really no underestimating what it's like to ride as one of the home heroes on a weekend like this. And Troy was also strong. He wasn't lucky in Race 1, otherwise points would definitely have been achievable.'
The next WorldSSP300 race weekend is September 8 - 10 at Magny-Cours in France. The IDM has no summer break, as next weekend they race at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
