FÜSPORT - RT Motorsports by SKM - Kawasaki and Inigo Iglesias 2023 IDM Supersport 300 champion!

After another high-profile IDM race weekend, this time at the Dutch TT Circuit in Assen, Inigo Iglesias is the 2023 IDM Supersport 300 champion. For FÜSPORT - RT Motorsports by SKM - Kawasaki, it is the second title in a row after the Dutch-German team also took the title last year with Marvin Siebrath. That fact forms a special chapter at the IDM's farewell at the end of this season.
Like earlier at the Red Bull Ring, the weekend in Assen was also one of commotion. Inigo Iglesias and Kevin Sabatucci finished qualifying in first and second place respectively, but were dropped to P4 and P5 due to a much-discussed penalty. Obviously, a disappointment, but FÜSPORT - RT Motorsports by SKM - Kawasaki decided to take from the penalty even more motivation for both races. And with success, as Inigo finished third in the first race - gaining points for P2 because a wildcard rider finished ahead of him - only to win the second race to become with the race weekend at Hockenheim still to go IDM Supersport 300 champion!
With Kevin on P3 in Race 2, it became a double podium in addition to the championship. Kevin already finishing strongly fifth in Race 1 as the Italian once again proved to be a talent as he was only riding his first IDM races for FÜSPORT - RT Motorsports by SKM - Kawasaki at the TT Circuit of Assen. Max Zachmann also rode a strong weekend in which he finished 11th and 8th. Australia's Tara Morrison got her first chance to race in Europe this weekend and did well with two 24th place finishes in a weekend that was mainly about acclimatization.
Team manager Rob Vennegoor: 'It's very special to be champion again! Many thanks to everyone who made this possible, because without all our team members, sponsors, and fans this would be impossible. It is also a special way to say goodbye to our IDM period with a title, although of course we will still give everything during the final weekend at Hockenheim. Besides Inigo, Kevin and Tara obviously deserve all the praise, as they both left a strong impression on their debuts. Especially for Tara as the switch from Australia to Holland was big. With Max's good results, we once again look back on a very strong weekend from the whole team and that makes me proud. Like the second title in a row!'
The IDM traditionally concludes the season in Hockenheim, Germany, on the weekend from 22 to 24 September.
